Washing your make up brushes is actually super easy and can quickly become part of your regular routine. Remember, these brushes are on your face every day and pick up dirt and oil from your skin. That accumulates, and using a dirty brush can lead to clogged pores and break outs. Regular cleaning not only prevents this but keeps your brushes in good condition so your investment in a nice brush won't go to waste!
If you have a brush cleaner you can follow the steps below but you can also just use baby shampoo. Who knew, right?
1. Run your brush bristles under warm water. Keep the bristles pointing downwards and avoid where the bristles meet the handle, otherwise this could loosen the glue holding the bristles together!
2. Pour a nickel sized amount of brush cleanser or baby shampoo into the palm of your hand and swirl the bristles around in it to create a lather.
3. Rinse the brush head under warm water. Squeeze excess water out of the brush with your fingers. If the water still comes out dirty repeat the above step again until it runs clean.
4. Dry your brush with a cloth or paper towel, shaping the brush if necessary. Lay it flat to dry overnight.
And that's all there is to it! By the way, don't you love the image above which shows that you can organize your brushes by eyes and face!
