Recipe: Central Market's Shrimp Salad

Friday, May 14, 2010

There are few things in this world as fabulous as Central Market's Shrimp Salad. seriously. I crave it constantly... but at $18 a pound (yikes!) I usually reserve it for special occasions or celebrations. I've scoured the Internet for the recipe to no avail... but after a little experimenting and mixing together different parts of recipes, I think I've created a perfect recreation. Um... so perfect that I made it twice this week (i know... i'm weak).

Shrimp Salad

1 lb Shrimp, cooked & chopped into  large pieces
1/2 C Mayonaise
1/4 C White Onion, diced
3/4 C Celery, diced
1.5 T White Wine Viegar
1.5 T Fresh Dill, minced
1 t Taragon (I used dried)
1/4 t Salt
1/4 t Dijon Mustard
1/4 t Fresh Ground Pepper

Whisk together salt, vinegar, mayo, mustard, pepper and dill. Combine with shrimp. Then add onion and celery. Cover and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour. If you let it sit overnight, it gets even better.

  7. Thank you, it's nice to come across such a simple recipe. I have moved to live on a tropical island that has a very limited supply of ingredients popular in the US and Europe. However I think that is one recipe where we can pick up all the ingredients, except maybe the dill.

  10. Ah, for once I have all the ingredients. No, I'll have to wait on the fresh dill, but things are just in time for the French tarragon outside. Will let it sit overnight.

By the way, that's a very nice piture you'd taken.
