A Very Happy Unbirthday...

Monday, April 05, 2010

My weekend looked a lot like this...

and I'm sure your's did too... lots of fun full of dyeing, egg hunting and waay too much candy eating...
And now today we're celebrating Kate's half birthday... three and a half already. I feel like I just finished cleaning up after the birthday party and here we are 6 months later. We don't do anything too big for our half birthdays... always a fun little baked treat (cake balls per Kate's request) and its my day to measure and weigh the kids.
My grandparents would weigh and measure us each time we made the trip to Denver and I remember always being excited about running to go and check to see how much I'd grown from year to year. I wanted to continue that tradition with my own kids, so we make sure to mark it down on our growth chart on their birthday and half birthday.

And now I love how from time to time they want to compare heights and see how much they've shot up from month to month. Doing our little half birthday celebration helps me remind me... plus I think it's a fun little way to mark the passing of the year. Just a fun little tradition I hope my kids will one day remember enjoying.

What about you? What traditions do you enjoy doing with your kids?
