In My Spare Time

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

So, I've been really busy with orders for Mother's Day and fielding requests from photographers for wholesale accounts. I was feeling a little harried... so I've taken some time to slow down a bit and work on a few creative things I've been wanting to do for a while. want to take a peek?
Looking at so many talented photog's sites and blogs really makes me wish I could do a better job with my photography, so I was inspired to try out a few 'actions' using PS Elements.  Here's the results...

You can see the before pic isn't terrible... but once I brightened the eyes and made her skin a little softer it made a world of difference.

And this one of Jack is so much better after cleaning up all those scratches (where in the world does he get all those?!) and brightening up his face. Again, the changes are subtle, but make a big difference overall. I found a fabulous place full of all kinds of free actions and directions - if you are interested in becoming better at your photos you've got to check out her site!

Then, in all my spare time (ha) my friend Heather convinced (not that I needed much convincing) to try a calligraphy class. Here's one of my first attempts:

and after a little practice....

Still needs some work, but not too bad... right? Seriously, though if you do need some beautiful calligraphy done Heather does fabulous work - check out her work here.

What have you been doing in your spare time?

  4. I've been wanting to take a calligraphy class FOREVER. Figure I'll save some $$ on my future wedding invitations.

As for spare time, what spare time? Right now I'm catching up on blog reading because I miss my favorite ladies! Life's just been too crazy. And I've been a lot more social lately, which is a nice change. Spring brings that out in me I guess.
