The Great Fall Clean Out: Coat Closet & Pantry

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

While it's been a hectic week getting ready for my jewelry show I did have time to do a little cleaning out. Did you?

I tackled the entry hall coat closet... a before I shudder to even share. I don't think this picture does it justice since you can't see the pile of junk cluttering the floor. Believe me, this was not a job I was looking forward to working on...

I have an over the door organizer (from Container Store) that I used to give each person a basket for gloves, scarves, umbrellas, etc. This cleared up the floor considerably.

And, of course, they are labeled... in a cute font. My two addictions unite.

When I open the door to the coat closet now, I swear I can hear angels singing now. I had to remind myself that I live in Texas... did I really need 10 different coats? No.

Each kid gets their own side to hang their coats - no fighting over hooks in this house (in theory).

I was so pleased with the coat closet that I went ahead and tackled another daunting job - the pantry. I took all the food out and separated them into "zones." So now I have a snack area, grains area, baking area... you get the picture.

Don't you just love the way it feels to have everything put away? Me too.

Next week we'll tackle our personal spaces... or maybe create a little space for ourselves. Care to join?
