I first found out about the 3/50 Project through Paula and I immediately went to see what it was all about. It fits in with exactly how I feel about local businesses. In these hard economic times we are all worried about finding the best bargains and, sure enough, big box retailers usually have the best prices and selection. But do they have the best customer service or do they give back to the community... your community? Many locally owned businesses do just that.
In keeping with the same idea, I love buying from etsy. It's nice to know that my purchases are not only unique and handmade, but I'm also supporting small businesses - more pointedly, stay at home moms like myself looking for a way to make it affordable to be at home with their kids. Not everyone who sells on etsy, of course, is a mom but a vast majority of them are; many are looking for ways to make a job out of what they feel passionate about - creating art. No matter how you look at it, it just feels right to support them. It's a win-win situation.
Where do you shop that makes you feel good?
