The Great Outdoors

Well, this is it. The final push. Three days until the home tour, and who do you think woke up Saturday morning with a ferocious cold? Me. Of course. But I didn't let that stop me, I just let it slow me down a bit. I think I should take it as a sign that it's time to just let some of the to-do items go.

The new landscaping is thanks to Miss Aimee's fabulous husband, Matt, who so generously offered his green thumb advice to us brown thumbs. Not only did he help sketch us a plan, but he babysat me at the nursery while we picked out plants. A mere 2 weeks ago the front yard was absolutely free of any beds (thanks to us ripping out the old overgrown holly bushes last Fall).

My favorite part of my front porch is the blue ceiling, which is pretty common place among long porches. Read here for some interesting historical info on blue porch ceilings. My favorite thing to do on my porch? Sit in the rockers during rainstorms with John and the kids.

The house numbers took me forever to find. I wanted just the right ones - I think house numbers are like jewelry to the front door and can really make or break your first impression.

New little plants freshly transplanted. Keep your fingers crossed that these babies will make it through the hot summer!

Our little firepit seating area in the backyard. A good spot for conversation and a glass of wine.

This bench made for me by my dad where I can sit and watch the kids on the swingset in the backyard.

I love that the weather is finally nice enough to spend some serious time outdoors. What's your favorite outside feature at your house?
