So, I found out this past week that my house is going to be included on a home tour in April. In ten weeks. Yikes. Needless to say, now dear sweet John and I are going to be working like madmen trying to get all those little house projects finished. Did I mention that we have bare subfloor exposed upstairs? Apparently the hardwoods we are planning on installing need to get completed along with a long punch list of items.
I thought it would be a nice idea to get a little help on this task, so I am going to be focusing on one room a week to finish updating. And, I will be more than happy to take any and all advice on how to make my house look "home tour ready." As my son put it, "Why would anyone pay money to come and walk around OUR house?" Wow. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Jackbird.
Let's start our tour with the living room.
Notice the rug I mentioned buying with my Christmas money?
The walls of this room are paint Bungalow Gold
The green in these pillows tie in with the green entryway that opens to this room
The bookcases are painted in Faded Clay and house some of my family heirlooms, photographs & antiques
Wall of family photographs
Architectural prints/photos including John's great grandfather's blueprints for an archway which is part of the historical registry
We are getting recessed lighting installed next week which should help with the cave-like atmosphere. We are also thinking of doing something to the mantle.
