I've Been Framed

I don't know about you, but I am drowning in papers at my house. Between the handprint art, macaroni self portraits and finger painting masterpieces I had no idea of what to do with it all. My fridge was like a cramped and overcrowded art gallery... only without the complimentary champagne.

I had to come up with a solution, so I wouldn't go crazy with the clutterfest. I needed something that would be easy to keep up with since new art comes home almost daily, so here's the solution...

Each frame has a tin insert in it, so all I have to do is use magnets to post the new art... so incredibly simple.

To make these I just went to a thrift shop and bought 6 frames, which I primed and painted red. Then I made a trip to Lowes' metal flashing aisle where I picked up sheets of tin, which I cut to size with a tin cutter. A little E6000 helped to ensure that the tin stayed in place inside the frame and voila instant art.

I loved the way that the art looked like it was matted in a metal and framed so nicely, that I decided to go one step further in the kitchen by adding these frames to the side of my fridge:

Again, just a quick trip to an estate sale and some metallic spray paint and we were in business. I used these to attach them to the fridge.  Now the fridge spaces are "reserved" for the finest art pieces.
